Some of you already know that I changed my hair colour recently, going from a blackish brown to a very dark reddish colour (It all depends on the light!). Now, red hair is notoriously hard to keep. Every time I have a shower I see a bit of my hair colour going down the drain, which is depressing to say the least. I've had this shade before, though, and am prepared to work at keeping it looking well!
I've said before that I'm just not a dry shampoo girl, I keep it strictly for emergencies - so conserving my ruby locks with less washes is out. I've been careful about what shampoo I use (Redken Colour Extend is my favourite) and have been deep conditioning like a mad woman.
My hairdresser recommended this to me as a means of conserving and boosting my colour. She's not one to push products on me, and advised me to pick this up in Terrisales, a salon supply shop on Abbey Street in Dublin. It's a deep conditioner that deposits some colour as well as improving the actual state of your hair. I obviously went for the bright red one, but they have an array of colours to perk up any shade of hair.
Now, at €20, this wasn't cheap, but I was willing to give it a go as it came so highly recommended. As this is almost like a fusion between a dye and a conditioner, you need to use gloves and be careful about it staining tiles and so on. The shade I bought came out bright red and I was pretty afraid of it the first time I used it! It's supposed to work in 3 minutes, so I just left it in while I shaved my legs etc. I used about 8 pumps (my hair is huge, mind) and made sure to distribute it as evenly as possible.
The results pleased me immediately - my hair felt a lot softer and stronger, and my BFF Jenny noticed the difference straight away, which was a good sign! Overall, I seriously recommend this if your hair colour needs perking up. The bottle will last a good while and €20 is actually a very fair price for what you get.
