Stuff It! Stocking Stuffer Ideas

Am I the only one who thinks the contents of a Christmas stocking is more exciting than the presents under the tree? I don't know whether this is because Christmas stockings only became a tradition in my house about five years ago and, so, the novelty hasn't yet worn off or, because, I nearly always know what my "under the tree" presents are so, it's the little wrapped parcels in my stocking that have my imagination running wild!

Either way, I'm a massive fan of the Christmas stocking and, because there are three girls in my house, ours usually contain an assortment of make-up, vouchers/money, sweets and other girly treats which make Christmas morning just as squeal-filled as it was when Santa used to visit with surprises of bikes and dolls and, err, Meccano and Lego (Yes, I got Meccano alongside my Barbies!)!

With so many great offers on the highstreet and reasonably-priced brands to choose from, stockings have never been so easy to assemble. If it's not for a Christmas morning treat in your house, why not get a stocking personalised with a friends name and fill it with loads of little treats they would like. It's a really cost-effective but, still substantial, gift to give and to receive. Here are some of my picks for stuffing stockings this Christmas!

Sally Hansen has taken the Irish market by storm in 2011 with the launch of the Complete Salon Manicure nail polish line (€8.95 - our personal favourite!) and the Salon Effects nail polish strips (€8.95). However, we must not forget that product which made the brand famous here, Airbrush Legs Instant Tan (€13.95)! Throw in one of their Lip Inflation lipglosses (€7.25) and you’ve just created someone the perfect Christmas party pack!

Essence’s new limited trend edition Circus, Circus hits stands in December and the whole collection is absolutely stocking-worthy! You could gift the whole thing to a die-hard Essence fan or you could mix n’ match in some of the key products like the Stay All Day eyeshadow (€3.29), the Lip Lacquer (€2.29) or the Highlighter Powder (€3.49). There’s even an Eau de Toilette (€7.49) spray if you’re filling a stocking for a fragrance fiend!

We gave you an exclusive lookat the LUSH Christmas 2011 collection a few months back and any of the products would make for amazing gifts. Some of our favourites include the Bath Bombs in Satsumo Santa (€3.70), Lil Lush Pud (€2.45) and Cinders (€2.45), the Bubble Bars in Magic Wand (€6.25 - reusable) and Gingerbread House (€3.70) and the yummy Christmassy soaps in Candy Cane (€3.45/100g) and Snowcake (€3.70/100g)!

The Body Shop has been a highstreet favourite forever and each Christmas their trend editions get increasingly more festive and yummy (looking and smelling, I don't know about tasting!). I love this Born Lippy Fruity Lip Balms set (€19.95) containing a selection of their popular lip balm flavours, all packaged in a giant lollipop! You could even buy this and split it among a few stockings if you're being mindful of your monies! There is also a teensy Satsuma Shower and Moisture Set (€5.95) which would bring a traditional scent to any Christmas stocking while a giant Christmas cracker (€19.95) contains the brands three festive lip balms. Again, this could be split to be more economical!

So, what are you waiting for? Get stuffin' those stockings!
