Teint Idole Ultra 24 Hour has undergone a number of changes, both cosmetically and formulation-wise, to differentiate it from the original Teint Idole Ultra and, it would seem, that they are all changes for the better.
Firstly, the line has a whopping 18 different shades, separated into those for warm, cool and neutral toned skins. Cosmetics counters in Ireland don’t always receive the full range of shades but, Lancôme counters here will be receiving the full range, ensuring there is a perfect match for most everyone. The line was expanded based on the results of a study undertaken by the Women of Colour association of all different skintypes, skintones, colourings and ethnicities which recorded 15,000 complexion colour points in over 1000 women.
The new bottle is a sleeker, more modern take on the previous packaging. It has more hard angles and less soft contouring and the heavy glass bottle will be a nice addition to any dressing table. As with any foundation, the pump-action dispenser is an added bonus both for hygiene and economic reasons.
Teint Idole Ultra has been always been heralded as an extremely long-lasting, well-wearing foundation with 14 hours of smooth coverage. However, the ante has well and truly been upped with the new foundation offering 24 hours of wear as the name would suggest. Funny that! Now, why you would want 24 hours of wear out of a foundation is beyond me but, it’s always good to know that it will stick around and look good if needs be!
It’s scientific gubbins galore with foundation so, I won’t bore you with the intricate details. In summary, the inclusion of silica and perlite make for a silky smooth finish that is matte without being powdery while the brands patented EternalSoft technology allows for 24 comfortable hours of perfect wear-time. Perlite soaks up excess oil in the skin continuously over the period of wear meaning that, unless you are exceptionally oily-skinned, powder use can be reduced or eliminated completely.
We were each colour-matched by Lancôme make-up artists at the event and were given our shade to take away with us. I am shade 007 Beige Rosé, a pale, cool-toned shade with a subtle hint of pink to it (that was developed with Middle-Eastern cultures in mind?!) while Dee is shade 01, a pale, slightly warmer shade. Interestingly enough though, we both wear the same shade in MAC (NC15) and Avon Ideal Flawless (Light Pink) we were at different points on the Lancôme scale.

It will be interesting to put Teint Idole Ultra 24 Hour to the test over the next few weeks and see how it wears and fares against some other favourites as well as the original Teint Idole Ultra. The foundation will be available from 1st February 2012 but, Brown Thomas will have it exclusively in January and are offering a 7-Day trial once you’ve been colour-matched so you can see how you like it before you buy.
