Some New MAC Lipsticks

If it's one thing MAC know how to do well it's lipstick.

I mentioned last week that I was looking forward to picking up a few lipsticks from the new collections and I did just that yesterday in a quick pit-stop before the Beaut.ie book launch (FOTD will be up soon)!

It's no secret that we don't shy away from bold lip colours here at Viva Adonis but, I understand that these shades might not be to everyone's tastes. I went with colours that I don't have even moderately close dupes for and ones that will be sure to make a statement when I wear them.

From the new Fall Collection, previously known as Cindy Sherman for MAC Cosmetics, I chose a gorgeous true orange. While it is called Neon Orange, it's not quite that bright but, I would definitely consider it in the same colour family as Candy Yum-Yum!

I love this colour and think it will look great with a relatively bare eyelid with just some definition added to the crease and a slick of my favourite black liner.

Two of a Kind: MAC Candy Yum-Yum and MAC Neon Orange

This next colour is definitely not for the faint of heart but, I had my eye on it since we got the promo info for the Posh Paradise collection. It's part of the limited edition Mattene lipsticks and is the deep, blackened purple, Potent Fig.

I have a bit of an obsession with purple lipsticks (See my collection below!) and own nothing like this. I love that it's a bit gothic, a bit vampy, a bit romantic and very unique. I can't wait to wear this with pale, clean, dewy skin, sculpted brows and lashings of black mascara. It's definitely not for an everyday look but, will be great for a night out. This is a new formulation to both MAC (I think?!) and to me and I'm still figuring out how best to work with it. I'll probably pick up a liner of some sort as there is a small amount of bleeding and am curious to see what completely mattifying it with a bit of translucent powder would look like.

My Purple "Army" (L-R): MAC Mattene Potent Fig, MUFE T51, MAC Violetta (LE/Pro), MAC Spitfire (LE), MAC Up the Amp and Avon Colourdisiac Drawn to You

I am also tempted by the bright pink Rare Exotic Mattene and by Show Orchid lipstick from the Fall Collection. I may go back during the week for the Mattene but, will wait to pick up Show Orchid in the Pro store when I go to London before Christmas!

Swatches (L-R): Neon Orange and Potent Fig

So, am I alone in my penchant for intense lip colours or could you be tempted to try either of these for a great statement lip?
