Review: LUSH Big Shampoo

It's no secret that we are Lush fanatics here at Viva Adonis. Everything seems like a little bit of luxury for a very reasonable price. So, I was delighted when my mam came home from a recent shopping trip with a big tub of, err, Big shampoo for my sisters and I.

I had only ever tried this shampoo as a sample pot, as I could never justify spending around €15 on a shampoo even if I loved it as much as I love Big.

And I do, I love Big (Not Carrie's Big although, I do love me some of him too!) this shampoo is the most satisfying product you could probably ever put in your hair. It gives a literally squeaky clean and leaves you über-shiny tresses and a nice boost in volume.

It's quite a simple mixture, including sea salt, lime juice and seaweed infusion, and you almost feel as though you could make it yourself (I plan to try!). You only need about a €2 coin size amount to wash medium to long hair and one wash is more than enough to get that squeaky clean feel and look so, the big pot will last you forever (Along with myself, my two sisters use it and we still have 3/4 of the pot left!).

The chunky sea salt adds volume and bounce to your hair and gives the most satisfying scrub to your scalp, almost like a mini massage which is lovely. The citrus juices add mega-watt shine to your tresses while the seaweed infusion makes your locks lovely and soft, so soft in fact that conditioner is not really needed!

I find that my clean hair lasts a lot longer than it would usually with any generic shampoo. I can usually wear it down for two days and up for one versus my usual down for one and up for one routine.

I'm actually dreading this pot of Big running out. People always comment on how healthy and shiny my hair looks after I use it and, well, I'm a bit partial to the oul scrub-a-dub-dub the salt gives. Pure bliss.

P.S. Did you know you can order from Lush.co.uk to Ireland? So, if you don't have a store nearby and want to know what we get so excited over, you can find out for yourself!

P.P.S. Here's a sneak peek of LUSH's Christmas Collection!

  1. This sounds gorgeous, I've been loving James Brown London's Photofabulous for oomph and shine - think it may be my HG shampoo. Though might give this a whirl too. Fickle? Moi?

Respeck for the Mike Logan pic too ;)

  2. Hahaha, I love that you worked a pic of Chris Noth into this review.

I've tried Big and while my hair did have more volume it was too drying on my scalp, boo, so I switched back to Trichomania.

  4. I love Big, it's one of my favourite Lush products. You can imagine how annoyed I was when I discovered my housemate in college was using it (though HE admitted it to me!).

When I did some Christmas temping there 2 years ago, I discovered from one of the girls working there the 'Big Daddy' cocktail. Big mixed with Daddy-O. It makes my hair so shiny and give great volume (not to mention it helps Big last a small bit longer as you don't need as much).

  5. I have the same problem with it being too drying for my scalp so instead I just use it on the bottom half of my hair as a treatment to make it shiny. That way it lasts ages! I love the stuff
