Review: The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Liquid Foundation

Mineral make-up has gone from strength-to-strength in the last few years with brands like Bare Escentuals, MAC and Laura Mercier answering the call for weightless yet flawless coverage. High-street favourite The Body Shop is the latest brand to throw their hat in the ring with the launch of their Extra Virgin Minerals collection, featuring three formulas in seven shades to suit every skin type and tone. Be Matt (€24.95) is a compact cream foundation, Be Fresh (€22.95) is a nod to traditional liquid foundation while Be Radiant (€23.95) is a loose powder. A kabuki-style brush (€23.95) rounds out the collection.

We got a bottle of Be Fresh to try out and enlisted my trusty mam to be our guinea pig as the shade we received was too dark for either of us to give a proper test drive. Let's see what she had to say!

So, there you have it! My mam seems to really like the foundation and has been using it as part of her daily routine since we gave it to her to try. And, here are some swatches (apologies for the scrape on my arm-no idea what happened!). Even though it is shades too dark for me, you can see on the right of the swatch how nicely it blends out and I would really like to get this in the right shade as it's the type of foundation that I usually like; light, blendable and long-lasting.

Will you be trying anything from the Extra Virgin Minerals line?

  1. Mmmm, I'm tempted to give this one a go provided they do a pale enough shade. I love that your Mam reckons it gives great coverage while still feeling nice and light. I hate feeling like I've make up on.
