Review: Avon Anew Genics by Dee's Mammy!
I've always been quite skincare-conscious, but writing this blog had made me even more so. I love trying new stuff, but only what suits me, of course! For that reason, I enlisted my mam's help for this post.
Avon Anew Genics is a new range of anti-ageing skincare (two products - a serum and moisturiser) that comes with the usual blurb: It's the result of a few years' research, contains new and radical ingredients (in this case, patented YouthGen technology, whatever that is) and promises to make you look up to ten years younger over time. I'm not even going to comment on that claim, for fear of offending my mammy! Here are her thoughts:
In terms of presentation, she wasn't hugely impressed with the brown glass bottle and jar, and said that brown is not necessarily the most attractive colour for skin care. The label had tiny print, which she found hard for her ''menopausal eyes'' to read (her words, not mine!!).
So when it came down to using the actual products, Mam (who isn't quite as high-maintenance as myself) thought that using two products instead of one would be a lot of trouble, but set to work. The serum, which she likened to Polyfilla, is light and glides on easily. As for the cream, Mam reckons that you need very little of it with the serum base is already in place. Compared to many anti ageing creams, it has quite a light texture.
And what were the results? "In the first week, I had a mega spot, which may or may not be connected to the Avon products. However, I rarely get spots - I have dry skin. After two weeks, my skin had a stronger, softer texture, I felt the products were really having an effect. Improved skin texture seemed to make foundation go on better as well."
"The products lasted three weeks, and compared very well to the Vichy ranges I normally use. I'm anxious to get my mitts on more of these products, and try more of the range"
