Review: Bio Oil and Giveaway [CLOSED]

Stretch marks are the bane of almost every woman's life at some point of another. From personal experience, they have the ability to drastically lower your self-esteem and make you feel, to put in bluntly, like crap. However, hope is not lost as, using a unique combination of ingredients, Bio-Oil can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scarring (among other things) and, as a longtime user, I can assure you of this! Read on to see how Bio-Oil actually works, my experiences with it and also how to be in with the chance to win your own bottle.

Bio-Oil provides care for for scars, stretchmarks, uneven skin tone, aging skin and dehydrated skin through the use of some important skincare ingredients including vitamins A and E with Calendula, Lavender, Rosemary and Chamomile oils as well as PurCellin Oil. PurCellin oil is an ingredient that is unique to Bio-Oil which lowers the stickiness and density of the oil to create an almost "dry oil" formula which is non-greasy on the skin. The combination of all of these ingredients ensures that they are absorbed into the second layer of the skin to provide targeted treatment at the root of your problem, whether that be scarring, stretch marks or otherwise.

Now, with the scientific spiel out of the way, does it actually work? Well, I can attest that it does. I have used Bio-Oil for many years, long before the company ever came to us with the product. I had awful stretchmarks across my sides and hips and I was really mortified by them. Despite the fact that it is not the cheapest product in the world, I persevered with it for months and, slowly but surely, my stretch marks faded to faint silvery lines which, I think you'll agree is much more preferable to bright purple!

I have also found other uses for Bio-Oil over the years which aren't exactly endorsed by the brand but, do no harm either. I have used it to treat dryness and scarring caused by eczema which you can read about here and, I have also used it as a serum-esque product when going to bed. I wouldn't recommend this if you have oily skin but, for normal and dry skin folks, your skin will feel plump and super soft come morning!

Now, here comes the fun part, we have a 60ml bottle of Bio-Oil to give away to one of our readers. If you are having trouble with scarring or stretch marks, now is the perfect time to start treating them so that they'll be seriously reduced before next summer! All you have to do is follow us on Google Friend Connect using your Twitter or Google accounts and leave a comment on this post so we know you're interested. This giveaway will close at midday on 5th September 2011.

Bio-Oil is preservative-free and is not tested on animals. Available from Dunnes Stores, Superquinn, Supervalu and pharmacies nationwide including Unicare, McCabes and Hickeys.

60ml rsp €9.99, 125ml rsp €17.99, 200ml rsp €22.99
