NUXE is a Parisian brand which has been around for 20 years and has now reinvented itself in 2011 with a new skincare line. NUXE is most famed for its Huile Prodigieuse, a dry oil suitable for skin, hair and nails (We were told that Jennifer Lopez has said she bathes in the gold-infused version!). We recently popped along to the launch of the NUXE Creme Prodigieuse range in Arnotts to learn about the products and how they'll help our skin stay looking young and fresh for longer.
The concept behind the range is to offer skin anti-fatigue moisturising care for women of all ages. NUXE achieve this through the use of three powerful and complementary anti-oxidants (if one fails to work, the others will take over!).
Now, without getting too scientific on you, NUXE believe that oxidative stress is the main cause of premature skin aging and comes about as a result of external and internal aggressors producing a significant amount of free radicals which can cause skin to look tired, dull, inflamed and aged. The 3 active ingredients in NUXE; Blue Everlasting, Blue Agerate and cocoa extract, work together to combat the effects of oxidative stress.
Blue Everlasting flower protects the skin from external stresses like pollution and UV rays and helps it to stay looking radiant and youthful, Blue Agerate protects the skin from internal assaults like fatigue and stress and reduces the appearance of inflammation while cocoa extract protects from premature skin aging caused by oxidative stress.
The range has two day creams (both €23.00 for 40ml); normal to combination skin (Creme Prodigieuse) and dry skin (Creme Prodigieuse Enriche), which contain high concentrations of powerful antioxidants. These work together to energize and protect the skin from environmental elements encountered during your day-to-day life.
What instantly struck us as unique about these day creams was that each has a specific action for its intended skin type. Normal to combination skin will be mattified by the inclusion of mineral powders while dry skin will be nourished and hydrated through the use of sweet almond vegetal oil. We both received the normal to combination skin day cream to test out so, we'll let you know in a few weeks if we stay shine-free throughout the day!
There is also an eye cream (€18.00 for 15ml) called Contour des Yeux Prodigeux which is anti-aging and reduces the signs of puffiness. It combines the three plant extracts central to the range with Hyaluronic Acid of natural origin and Plant Caffeine. The acid works to smooth the find lines caused by dehydration of the eye area while the caffeine, extracted from green coffee beans, enhances drainage and clearing from the eye contour area and reduces the appears of puffiness and dark circles.
The eye cream, on first test, is extremely lightweight and smooth, almost verging on a gel. Having used this for a few nights now, we are both initially very impressed by how it feels and makes our eye areas look.
Finally, there is the night cream (€24.50 for 50ml) Creme Prodigieuse Nuit. As was explained to us at the launch, our skin rejuvinates and renews between midnight and 6 am with the most action taking place between 1am and 3am. During this time, our skin is more sensitive and open to what we have applied to it and, so, the thinking is that this is the optimal time to encourage maximum renewal and regeneration. White Lupin is added to the three core ingredients for re-inforced skin-renewing action which results in a more glowy complexion come morning time.
This has the look and feel of your typical night cream; extremely thick and luxurious. A little goes a long way and, despite the consistency of the product, it doesn't leave a film on the skin but, still feels as though it is providing a layer of protection during the night.
We'll be testing this range over the next couple of weeks and will report back on how our skin looks and feels from slathering it in so many unique and natural ingredients.
Have you tried anything from this line or, are you planning to?
