OMG: Rihanna Goes Casual

I love seeing celebrities in more casual gear, it reminds me that they actually are human! Unsurprisingly, Rihanna still looks unreal on an 'off'-day. Her black maxi dress is comfy and practical, but still has a sexy twist thanks to the slit - oh, how I wish I could get away with this! I also love how she is wearing Vans, it's just so refreshingly normal.

Although this is a casual outfit, Rihanna is still beautifully groomed. Check out her glowing skin and matching coral red lips and nails, how divine are they?! I'm more than a bit jealous! And to top it all off, I am in love with her hair, it's kind of a modern homage to the 1940s 'victory roll' hairstyle. On a final note, some people may be sick of it at this stage but I am still loving her fiery red hair - gorgeous!

TAG: Summer Besties!

This is a tag that recently started on YouTube, I saw it on MsLusciousLaura's channel and decided to do a blog version. The idea behind the tag is to suggest some products that are suitable for the summer months, so I hope this is helpful!

Sinéad's May Favourites

Another month over. Can't say I mind to be honest! May was a good month though, especially beauty-wise. I got the opportunity to try a lot of new products and I'm really grateful for that as I have found some that have definitely become mainstays in my beauty collection.

'Tis the Season to be Coral

A change in season is always closely followed by a change in wardrobe. Now, for any make-up obsessive, that wardrobe overhaul also extends to include our make-up. The palettes of brown and black are pushed to the back of the drawer and, in their place, we dip our brushes into brights and neons, changing our entire make-up look with one swish of a brush.

A colour I always revert to come summertime is coral. I love how tropical it looks and how the bright orange-y red hue makes any eye colour, dare I say it, pop *shudders*. Thankfully, coral has been the colour of the season for the past two summers and this year it's once again holding the top spot, albeit sharing with yellow.

Naturally, I have amassed a rather hefty collection of coral make-up products over the past few seasons and wanted to share my favourites with you for inspiration.

NOTD: Barry M Dusky Mauve

I had misplaced this polish for ages and finally found it again the other day, yay! It's a brilliant dupe for Chanel's famous Paradoxal, although maybe a little more grey. I love how unusual and kind of smoky it is, if that makes any sense at all!

Review: Bourjois Effet Smoky Eye Pencil

A decent pencil liner is a must in any make-up arsenal. If Cleopatra is anything to go by, ladies have been lining their eyes with black since ancient times (although I wouldn't suggest using lead like she did).  Black liner suits virtually anyone, and eyeliner of the kohl pencil variety is particularly useful and multi-purpose. It can be smudged all over the lid for a quick smokey eye or to act as a base for eyeshadow.

NOTD: Chanel Morning Rose

No Flash

Any of you that follow us on Twitter will know that I've been lusting after this polish since it came out. I'm really glad I took the plunge and bought it as the shade is just gorgeous - a salmon pink with a tiny hint of coral and the most gorgeous microshimmer.
There's been so much fuss over Mimosa and the whole yellow trend this spring that I feel this shade has been totally overlooked. It's just so pretty and wearable for years to come, which is what made me cave! On a final note, it actually wore quite well, so I'm delighted overall.

Review: The Body Shop Mascara & Bronzer

We have a policy of complete honesty on this blog, and if I am to be totally truthful, I really haven't been that interested in The Body Shop for a few years. I do quite like their products but I had never bought them for myself - they were something that I tended to receive as a gift and consequentially I never really went into the shop all that much.

A Little Beauty Blogger Shopping Trip & FOTD

Having attended a few beauty events over the last number of months, Dee and I have a whole new set of friends who share our penchant (ahem, obsession!) for beauty products.  It's great to go shopping with like-minded people who don't bat an eyelid at hands and arms covered in swatches or who don't recoil at our squeals of delight over discounted Clinique, Clarins and Lancome. Basically, fellow beauty bloggers are our perfect shopping partners!

This afternoon we spent a brilliant few hours perusing the aisles of Superdrug, Boots and Unicare in Omni Shopping Centre with Karen from Lovely Girlie Bits and Claire from In Claireness Now Fair.  I was quite restrained and only bought one item, the Cosmopolitan Beauty Expert Sponge (AKA the poor man's Beauty Blender!) as I had been on the lookout for one and, for around €6, I couldn't leave it behind! The other girls had a slightly more fruitful shopping expedition and I'm sure they'll post about their acquisitions soon!

Here's a little sneaky peek of the colours I picked out at yesterday's launch. I thought you'd all appreciate a nose and, this way, you'll know what coming up in terms of reviews, NOTDs etc. Dee got a lot of the same colours too but, I'm sure she'll post any extra ones she got so you get the full overview!

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure

Sally Hansen is a brand which is synonymous here in Ireland with giving us airbrushed pins, nails as shiny as mirrors and as hard as the hobs of hell. However, outside of this country's small beauty industry, the Sally Hansen name is a force to be reckoned with, especially in the nail colour field, and has been for more than 50 years!

Putting those five decades of expertise to work, Sally Hansen has now created the Complete Salon Manicure; an all-in-one product combining a base coat, top coat, strengthening and growth treatment and a salon-inspired nail colour, all in the one bottle!

Loved by the like of Kim Kardashian, Complete Salon Manicure promises up to ten days of wear, all while keeping nails shiny and providing them with the ultimate care. And the best news, ladies? Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure will be hitting stands near you as early as the end of June!

We were kindly invited along to the official launch today (in the super swanky Presidential Suite at the Westbury Hotel no less!) to meet with Sally Hansen's Global Beauty Expert Dana Caruso to find out all about the concept and creation of this uber-product.

NOTD: Catrice Up in the Air

This is actually a picture from earlier on in the week - nevertheless, I love the colour! Pale blue is great for spring/summer and I love how this shade isn't too frosty-looking - it's more of a powdery china blue. Perfect!

Review and NOTD: Penneys Nail Foils

I got these nail foils a good few weeks back in Penneys and I only got around to trying them this week...shameful! They were €3.50 and also came in a leopard design which I must own!

NOTD: Essie Sew Psyched

I'm in LOVE with this nail polish! The formula is gorgeous, it's really easy to control and the colour is right up my street! It's a khaki green with some definite turquoise undertones. B-e-a-u-tiful!

OMG: Leighton Meester for Vera Wang

Both Sinéad and myself are obsessed with Gossip Girl and while we aren't quite so fond of her colleague Blake Lively, we are both massive fans of Leighton Meester. Her style is impeccable and though I could never replicate it, I adore her flawless hair and make-up. She is truly stunning and I must confess that I have what can only be described as a fully-fledged girl crush on her.

Review: John Frieda 3 Day Straight

NOTD: Essence Fabuless

A black/granite shade of polish may not be everyone's cup of tea for this time of year, but black nail polish will always be a favourite of mine. There was a time not too long ago when my dear mother banned me from owning any after an accident involving Rimmel Black Out and a cream carpet...oops. However I have (kinda) grown up since then and black is back in my collection.

I'm loving Fabuless as it is a brilliant affordable dupe for Chanel Black Pearl! It applies really well and lasted fine with the help of OPI Start to Finish. My hand looks really creepy in this photo...

Review & Rave: Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer

image via Google
Collection 2000 is a brand that has really improved and impressed me of late (in spite of the rather naff name). This concealer is the latest product from their range that has had a lot of beauty bloggers ranting and raving, so of course I had to give it a go.

FOTD: Sunday adventures & a vintage find!

NOTD: Barry M Coral

I'm loving bright, summery nails this week! I would say this is more of a juicy orange rather than a coral colour. This shade was my first Barry M nail polish so it's about 3 years old but the formula is still perfect - I'm impressed!

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Swatches & Review

As you may recall, we went to the launch of The Body Shop's new Honey Bronze line which was presented to us by international make-up artist Karim Sattar. The special ingredient is, as you may have already guessed, honey and, as one of nature's best moisturisers, it is used in the range to keep skin looking and feeling smooth and to ensure and even and natural-looking bronzed complexion. We received a few of the products to test out and, while it's been hard to play with everything, I think I have a good idea about each of the products!

Dee's Monthly Favourites - April

I love doing these posts! I have a good few new discoveries this month, and they are all very affordable.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation

NOTD: Pastel Polka Dots

Today's NOTD is a really pretty pastel look that is incredibly easy to achieve. I've seen this tip floating around the internet for a good while, so I don't claim to have invented it or anything but I still wanted to share! For perfect polka dots, simply use a hair grip dipped in your desired shade. It's a good idea to do a couple of practice dots on a scrap of paper first, even though it is basically a doddle. I also used my new favourite top and base coat, OPI Start to Finish.

Models Own Pastel Pink, Barry M Berry Ice Cream

Let me know if you try this out!

Review: St Ives Warming Scrub

Last week, I picked up some new skincare products to try and re-jig my routine a bit for the summer months. The St Ives Warming Scrub was a bit of an impulse buy if I'm honest. I thought the little short fat tube was adorable and have always been intrigued by warming scrubs so, I figured I would try it.

I was hesitant once I brought it home, however, and the initial adrenaline rush that comes with impulse buying had worn off. The legendary St Ives Apricot Scrub destroyed both mine and my sisters' skins as it was too harsh so, I was worried this would be the same but, I took a deep breath and gave it a chance!

NOTD: OPI Teenage Dream

I FINALLY got my hands on this shade!! I found it in a local chemist last week and just couldn't leave it behind. I love how stupidly girly and summery it is :)

Review: Xen-Tan Transform Luxe

As mentioned on Wednesday, we met with Xen-Tan to find out more about their products as they establish a bigger presence here in Ireland. The tan I got to try was one from the "gradual range" called Transform Luxe. I actually think the tan I tested in the meeting was the Deep Bronze Luxe as I was sure it had an instantly dark hue on my skin and the Transform Luxe is just a white cream that dries clear but, that's no big deal!

I applied it two nights in a row which built up to just enough colour for my pale skintone to handle without looking ridiculously dark. Read on to find out about my first impressions, my results and my overall feelings on the product as someone who generally shuns fake tan.

NOTD: Chanel Nouvelle Vague

I've said before that I regret buying this nail polish and I still stand by that. I whipped it out this morning since I had a bit of Xen-Tan on and hoped it would  look somewhat different on digits with a bit of colour to them. It is a fabulous colour but, the formula us still dire. Streaky and thick if that's even possible. Bold Chanel!

What do you regret buying?

DIY: Naked Palette

Haven't managed to get your hands on the famous and elusive Urban Decay Naked palette yet? Well, fret no more my lovelies as, a meander through my stash taught me something invaluable- the Naked palette, while beautiful and covetable in all its neutral glory is, for the most part, dupe-able! Yes, that's right, there are shades out there just like Sidecar and Buck and which you won't have to go on a waiting list to get.

I probably don't have to point this out to all you die hard beautyheads but, just as a disclaimer, a dupe is not necessarily meant to be a dead-on match but, a similar equivalent which is just as good if not better. Not all of the shades below are bang on for the Naked shades but, they would be a good substitute!

Xen-Tan: The Future of Tanning?

Xen-Tan is a brand that we only about in the context of celebrity tanning faves (Una Healy, Molly King, Kara Tointon and Anna Kournikova to name a few!) and via Laura AKA Lollipop26's Twitter. We never knew much about what set it apart from other tanning brands and, since we both tend to embrace the pale, we never investigated it much further.

However, the brand is now establishing itself in Ireland and wanted to get a jump start by meeting with some Irish beauty bloggers and journalists to introduce us to the line and the products. We met with the lovely Amy today and were suitably impressed with what she had to tell us!

NOTD: Bling!

Some of you may be thinking that I've lost the plot. What can I say, I love tacky nails! The colour on my nails is China Glaze Rich & Famous, and I added these Broadway gems which I got in Boots for a tenner a while back. I couldn't find the glue that came with the kit, so I just used the Nail Art top coat to stick them on and then applied two more coats on top of them. The top coat is really great, the gems lasted for the entire weekend!
