5 Red Lipsticks I Love

I just love red lipstick. I used to be very wary of it - I don't know why, seeing as my lips are naturally quite red anyways. A good red lip gives me a special kind of confidence, and even makes me feel almost as fabulous as this lady:

MAC Russian Red is one of my absolute favourite shades. In my book, it's a total must for anyone who is into reds as it is a total winner in terms of shade, texture, finish and longevity. It's an amazingly intense, matte true red with the best staying power out of all these shades.

MAC Heartless was sadly a limited edition shade from last year's Venemous Villains collection. This is a slightly darker, less orangey shade with a different finish - it's an Amplified Creme so has quite a sophisticated sheen without being too glossy. I just love the packaging as well!

Viva Glam Cyndi is a very well loved lipstick of mine, as you can see from the picture! It's a very sheer coral-red - very buildable, and perfect for daytime. 

Revlon Fire & Ice is the loudest, brightest shade of red that I own and I just love it! It's a perfect red for summer and is pretty long-lasting for a relatively cheap lipstick (€10.50).

Maybelline Hollywood Red is actually quite a good dupe for MAC Viva Glam Cyndi! Another sheer red, it's also good for daytime. It's actually probably a bit more pigmented that Cyndi. For me, this is my perfect 'my lips but better' shade.

I absolutely adore and regularly use all of these shades. I'd recommend any of them as I really believe there is a shade of red out there for everyone. It truly is the classiest lip colour, especially for a night out. If you're afraid of looking like a clown, try starting off with a sheer shade, or ask an MUA to colour match you - you won't regret it!

  1. I love, love, love red lipstick. I don't own any MAC shades though I'm now contemplating buying Russian Red.

    My latest purchese is Dior Addict Lipstick in Red Carpet at the weekend and I adore it.

  3. Great post and horror of horrors, I don't actually own a single one of these! MAC's Russian Red and Revlon's Fire & Ice are very much on my radar though for the next time I have a few spare pennies :)
