What's in Sinéad's Make-Up Bag...

It dawned on me, when I was unpacking from my recent trip to Carlow, that I should have shown you all what I pack in my travel make-up bag. What with going down there regularly, going to stay with my dad and going away on the occasional holiday, I have really learned to downsize what I bring and just make do with what I have. Next time it's packed, I will be sure to take some pictures but, until then, I thought I would show you what's in my "carry around" make-up bag that comes with me in my handbag.

My little make-up bag is part of a set of 3 by Guess that my boyfriend's brother and sister gave me for Christmas a few years back and this teeny one is perfect for throwing in my handbag or gym bag. I think it's important to note that what I carry in this bag is purely for the purpose of touch-ups or doing my make-up on-the-go. When I wear make-up, I do it at home so that it shouldn't move or need much correction and that is why I don't carry eyeshadows, blush, bronzer or blusher with me. It's just the basics.

Here's a brief overview of its contents, some of which I change out regularly depending on what lip and eye products I am wearing on a particular day.

The two miscellaneous items that I keep in here are a compact mirror and Quickies Nail Polish Removal Pads. The mirror is from the MAC Venomous Villains collection and I got it for Christmas. It's brilliant little mirror because it's huge and has both a normal side and a magnified side. The Quickies are such a necessity because, while I love doing my nails as we all know, I literally cannot stand when they chip as I feel like my hands look really grubby so, I keep these with me to remove chipped polish as soon as it happens!

For my face I keep my YSL Touche Éclat which I have raved about before because I use it as a concealer, touch-up and highlighter when in a pinch. I also keep my MAC Blot Powder Pressed which I absolutely detest because it is SO powdery but, when you're stuck it works fine applied and blended with your fingers to get rid of shininess and to cover blemishes. My powder of choice is MAC MSF Natural but, because you need a brush to apply it, it's not really too handy to carry around.

In terms of eye products, I keep my Benefit Bad Gal Liner and Benefit Eye Bright in the bag constantly as they are brilliant for fixing yourself up and, while they aren't my favorite products of their type, they are grand for making yourself look respectable when you are out and suddenly find you have to meet someone or go for dinner. On a daily basis, I just throw in any other eyeliner that I have used for my make-up that day for touch-ups.

As we all know, I am a huge lip product junkie so, these are the products that my make-up bag tends to get stuffed full of if I'm not careful. I always keep a pot of Vaseline in the bag and then try to remember to change out my lip products for the day instead of just adding to the pile!

So, as you can see, my daily make-up bag is more about maintenance than about creating amazing looks but, when necessary, you can get by on very little and look respectable!

Love,

  1. Is it weird that I don't actually carry a make up bag around with me? All I have is lipstick/lipgloss. :|

  2. Not at all! My carrying it stems from a worry that I will be caught without it someday, looking like a wreck and will panic! Probably would just be easier just to wear make-up everyday! At night I wouldn't bring all that, just lipstick and eyeliner! x

  3. It's really interesting to see what you carry around with you. Because I have so little makeup, and don't really know how to use a lot of products, the make up I carry around with me, is the make up I use every day. I've got a primer, foundation, pressed powder, bronzer, bronzing brush, blusher, blusher brush, a compact, liquid eyeliner, mascara, eyeliner pencil, eyebrow pencil, lib balm, nail file and a pair of tweezers all in my make up bag!

Haha that is actually a shocking amount - 15 different things!

Thanks for such an interesting blog :D
