Sinéad's Favourite Foundations

I have been meaning to do this post since Dee did it awhile ago but, just forgot until the lovely Laura AKA FitzNBitz requested this post today and reminded me!

When it comes to things like foundation, we really feel it's important that we both do our own posts as we are two different skin types. I have normal skin while Dee has combination so, if her post would suit you better, you can check it out here.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

I got this one purely by accident. My mam, who is a shade or two darker than me, was colour-matched incorrectly by the NARS girl in Brown Thomas and this ended up being my colour as opposed to hers. Win!

As I have said before, I don't wear foundation on a daily basis but, when I do, I like it to be sheer and light with just enough coverage. This is the perfect foundation for that. It is buildable so, in areas like under the eyes and around the nose where there usually is some discolouration, this is brilliant. Otherwise, it just gives you a sheer (Duh!), natural and dewey complexion that is really lovely.

Even when set with powder, this foundation still makes your skin look radiant as opposed to flat and dull.

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation

This is another light coverage foundation though, probably a touch heavier than the NARS. It's a cream formula that spreads really smoothly and just gives the skin a really flawless finish.

I know MAC foundations can be hit and miss with people breaking out from them and what not but I have never had that problem despite having sensitive skin.

I find that this foundation can look a little flat if you apply to much but, that being said, I quite like this trait as it provides a really flawless canvas for you to work on with contouring, highlighting, bronzer etc.

A little also goes a long way with this- I've had mine for about 2 years!

Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser

This product featured in my favourites awhile back and I still stand by everything I said there. It is a tinted moisturiser and so, if you are looking for any coverage at all, this probably isn't the best product for you.

That being said, if you are looking for something light and easy for day-to-day wear this is absolutely brilliant. It has a silky consistency that just serves to even out your skin tone without making you look unnatural.

If I wear any kind of liquid base during the day, this is it. It's light enough that my skin doesn't feel suffocated while slightly masking any blemishes.

I know Stila can be quite hard to find in Ireland but I picked this up in TK Maxx as part of a set so it might be worth taking a look there if you are interested.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural

Generally, this is my daily go-to product and I use it on it's own as foundation for the most part. It's the most amazing consistency powder that is super lightweight but gives a surprising amount of coverage.

I just buff it onto my skin with a MAC 187 kabuki brush and then in areas like around my nose and eyes, I use a denser brush to pack the colour on a bit more. I then spritz with MAC Fix+ to get rid of the powdery look and set it further and the results last all day. It's definitely my Holy Grail face product!

When I do wear foundation, I also use this to set it so it's a multipurpose product for sure and is probably one of the best value for money products that MAC offers as you get a hell of a lot of product for around €20.

  3. Aaahaha! ;) Ya I couldn't decide between aqua or pro. I asked the pixiwoo ladies and Nic said Pro Lumiere is what she would recommend for normal skin. I'll see, will have to explore at the Chanel counter - which I have never been at before!

  4. Ooh you'll have a blast! My mam has normal skin too and she's been using Pro and then went to the Chanel counter because she felt it was wayyy too heavy for daytime and they said it was totally wrong for her skin type and she got Vita Lumiere, the original one, and loves it! Just worth knowing I guess! Cool Nic answered you! x
