I should forewarn you (and apologise!) that all of these lipsticks bar one are MAC. That's simply because I think MAC is the best brand out there for lipsticks in terms of colour-range, quality and formulas. I don't mind shelling out the money for them because they are THAT good.
|L-R: YSL Rouge Pur #148 Tea Rose, MAC Dressmaker Dressmaker, |
MAC Ravishing, MAC Viva Glam Gaga I and MAC Cremecup.
I will group the next two together as they are so similar. Dressmaker, Dressmaker came out with last summer's Pret-a-Papier collection and, so, unfortunately, it is limited edition. However, you may still be able to pick up surplus stock in MAC or in CCOs. It is a beautiful peachy coral and is tame enough that pale people like me can wear it but, is still striking enough for darker skintones to pull off. Ravishing is like Dressmaker, Dressmaker's more intense and daring older sister. While it is still a coral, it definitely has a more red/orange tinge to it and is extremely pigmented and bold (so, not for the faint of heart!). I recommend these two as the best coral lipsticks I have ever come across and only yesterday I told the lovely Leanne about them which, incidentally, gave me the idea for this post!
MAC's Viva Glam Gaga I needs very little said about it as it is probably one of the brand's most famous lipsticks. It is, clearly, a very bright, blue-toned, bubblegum pink. Admittedly, this is not one of my favourite lipsticks. The stigma attached is purely, in my opinion, to do with Gaga's name as opposed to the quality of the lipstick. But, for all you pink lovers out there, this is one of the nicest, brightest pinks that every age and skintone can pull off.
Finally, MAC's Cremesheen is what I consider to be the perfect pink for spring. It has a slightly peach undertone which warms it up and makes it suitable for almost everyone. It's bright without being obnoxious and its intensity and colour can be built to take you from day to night very easily.
What are your favourite lip colours for spring?
