Some recent acquisitions...

I've managed to rack up a good few purchases over the Christmas holidays without realising here they are!

Clockwise from left: Penneys Gilt nail polish (€1), Catrice nail polishes in Clay-ton, my Hero and From Dawn to Dusk (€1.79 each) Rimmel Flash Eyeliner (€6.50), three Benefit Eyeshadows (two for €10 or €7 each), Max Factor False Last Effect Mascara (about €17) Barry M Dazzle Dust in Oyster Grey (about €6), MAC lipstick in Diva (€17.50), Rimmel Lasting Finish lipstick in Starry-Eyed (€6.50), Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer (€6.75) and Urban Decay Heavy Metal glitter eyeliner in Baked (same deal as the Benefit eyeshadows).

So I'll talk about the nail polishes first: I'm currently trying to cure my addiction to buying nail polish by sticking to the really cheap ones. The Gilt polish from Penneys was ridiculously cheap at €1! It's black with gold sparkle while isn't that visible upon application. Still alright for €1 in my book. The Catrice polishes are much better. The brush is good and I like the bottles too. As for the formulation, it is suprisingly hard wearing - perhaps not as good as Models Own but great for the price and I will definitely be collecting loads of these! The colours are both fairly ordinary and neutral - my preferred shade of the two would have to be Clay-ton, my Hero. In spite of the odd name this is a lovely neutral and the subtle gold shimmer running through it makes it that bit more interesting and original!

I'm including the Rimmel Flash Eyeliner again because I had to repurchase it after my makeup was stolen on a night out...RIP MAC Blot Powder :(. Everything I have already said about this eyeliner still stands...I love it.

The Benefit eyeshadows were purchased in Brand Avenue on O'Connell St in Dublin - a discount beauty shop that I can never seem to avoid. They're quite good - a little chalky but I wanted some more matte shades and I really like these in the crease combined with one of my Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows.

Next up is Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara. I'm actually not that much of a mascara junkie because my lashes are fairly long and dark naturally, so I usually just stick to using one or two at a time especially because they go off so quickly. I'd been wanting to try this one for absolutely ages though because I'd heard that it is actually the exact same formulation as CoverGirl LashBlast which American beauty gurus are constantly raving about. It takes a lot for a mascara to impress me and this one certainly did - the volume it added to my lashes was incredible and it doesn't clump. I adore the big fat brush and the packaging is also quite nice considering it is Max Factor, a brand that I consider to be fairly bland!

I'm also starting to collect Dazzle Dusts by Barry M as the colours are amazing for the price. I picked up #89 Oyster Grey and I've been loving it recently. It works really well all over the lid with a lighter MAC pigment in the inner corner of the eye as a highlight.

Left: MAC Diva. Right: Rimmel Starry-Eyed

I have such a weakness for MAC lipsticks. Nothing compares to them and I love the packaging. The latest addition to my collection is a fairly daring shade. Diva is best described as a heavily blackened burgundy red, if that makes any sense! It is a matte finish which can be quite drying but I love the look of it. I used a cherry red lip liner by Isa Dora underneath this as I was afraid of my lips looking too black and it worked well. My mother hated it and said I looked like a sheep because they have black lips...but each to their own! :)

MAC Diva

A more affordable dark lipstick is next on the agenda. I'm still obsessed with Rimmel Lasting Finish lipsticks. Starry-Eyed is not a million miles away from Diva when swatched but it looks quite different on my lips. It's more of a plummy shade and the finish has a touch of gloss. I really love this shade and can't wait to wear it out!

I've been on the hunt for a more affordable concealer as I am running out of my MAC Studio Sculpt. I decided to pick up Match Perfection by Rimmel as recommended by Fleur de Force and I'm pretty pleased with it. I've been using it on my face as well as under my eyes and I really like it overall. I would still use a thicker concealer on spots but my skin is actually quite clear at the moment, yay!

FINALLY, I also got the Urban Decay Heavy Metal glitter eyeliner in Brand Avenue. When I saw this I couldn't resist buying it as I used to be obsessed with these liners a few years ago! This shade is suprisingly wearable - I teamed it with Texture by MAC.

That's all - sorry for the ridiculous length of this post!
