Sinéad's December Favourites

I cannot believe it is the end of December and the end of 2010 already! That means that it is time for my December favourites! I was thinking about doing a 'Best of 2010' post but I might leave that until the end of January! So, until then, enjoy and have a Happy New Year!

Love,

S.

Sinéad's NOTD: Chanel Intermezzo and Models Own Juicy Jules

On a bit of a roll here with painting my nails but, Purple Majestic had a bit of an accident with some cellotape (just realised what a weird word "cellotape" is).... Anyways, my Christmas Day nails are a combo of Chanel's Intermezzo as a base with the super glittery and festive Juicy Jules by Models Own on top! Really love this combo even if it is a bit OTT! Enjoy and Happy Christmas!

I will be getting more eyeshadows for Christmas and when I am on my post-Christmas London shopping trip so, when I haul from them, you will know what I am adding to!

Sinéad's NOTD: Models Own Purple Mystique

Nothing too exciting, I'm afraid! Just a lovely festive purple colour courtesy of Models Own's Purple Mystique!

As you can see from the picture on the right, Purple Mystique is very much like Chanel's Vendetta. Both are equally lovely colours but, you can just make out the subtle difference in that picture; Purple Mystique has a magenta duochrome which, on the first coat, is the predominant colour (second coat gives you colour of my nails on the left) while Vendetta has a blue duochrome which makes that polish much much darker on application! Still, I think it's fair to say that the MO version is a cheaper but just as nice version of the Chanel. Dupe Alert!

Love,

S.

A little haul from my local chemist...

On Saturday evening I braved the cold (it was so freezing my face was sore!) to go down to the shops for a few bits I wanted for going out. Ended up getting a few really nice things! Read on to see what I got...

Review: Garnier Youthful Radiance Eye Cream

You might be wondering what a 20-year-old girl would be needing an eye cream for and, up until recently, I wondered the same thing myself. However, I then realised that I put a lot of time and effort into keeping all the rest of my skin in good nick that there is no reason why I shouldn't take care of my delicate eye skin.

Exercise/Gym Skincare Tips

This might seem like a bit of a strange post but it is actually something I have given a lot of thought to. I genuinely like exercising, especially the gym. However, something I don't like about the gym is the havoc sweating can play on your skin. So, after many break outs and ugly redness, I have devised a few little skincare tips that I have found really help reduce the build-up of bacteria and the blocking of pores.

Review: L'Oréal Elvive Colour Protect Conditioning Spray

Let me start by saying that this stuff has been a total lifesaver over the last few weeks. I've been meaning to get my hair done for the last month but I'm getting away without a salon trip for longer thanks to this spray!

Review: Lancome Hydra Zen Neurocalm Moisturiser

Traipsing to and from college in the cold weather and spending copious amounts of time indoors with the heating on, my skin has been acting up a bit. It got insanely dry around my forehead and chin and, while it wasn't flaky, it did have an uncomfortable and unsightly texture to it.

After I mentioned it to my mam, she gave me a sample of Lancome's Hydra Zen Neurocalm Moisturiser to see if it would help at all.

Brand Overview: Soap & Glory

Soap & Glory do a line of really fun and affordable products that have captured a lot of my attention of late. The packaging is a joy - it's so pink and kitsch and never fails to escape my notice.

They do a wide range of products ranging from hair care to cosmetics that all have the same sweet scent. I've tried a good few so far and have been impressed overall! Read on for detailed reviews...

My Favourite YouTubers

The YouTube "world" has literally exploded in the last number of years with people making their career based solely on the concept of recording and uploading videos. The Beauty Community has grown since I started watching it back in the day when Elle and Blair were a few of the only "gurus" (and I use that term with disdain) to be found. If you don't know who I'm talking about, don't worry because you aren't missing much! Anyways, I just thought I would let you into my favourite "gurus" to watch and also throw in one or two miscellaneous YouTubers!

Tag: Getting to Know Me...Sinead's 40 Questions Beauty Tag

This is a fun tag that was going around the YouTube beauty community but, since I don't do videos, I thought I would put it here!

Hope you enjoy.

Review: Revlon PhotoReady Foundation

Let me start this as I mean to go on: I love foundation. LOVE IT. I actually kind of feel sorry for men (especially the spotty ones) because they can't (well the majority won't) hide under it like us female folk can.
I can safely say that my confidence would be shot to pieces without a decent foundation, especially on nights out. Nothing is more unattractive than a greasy face! I have a few firm favourites, which I may list in another post, but am always on the look out for another gem...

Review: Chanel Beauté des Ongles Nail Polish Base Coat

I have always loved painting my nails, despite the fact they are short and quite weak. However, I have never really understood the need for a base coat/top coat- nail care for me is simply filing, shaping and buffing them. I have always found extras like base coats make your nails unnecessarily thick and more prone to chipping/peeling off which drives me insane!

Sinead's Skincare Routine: Normal Skin

Skincare is, arguably, one of the most important parts of any beauty regime. You can have the best make-up and the most expensive brushes, but nothing replaces having a good base on which to apply it.

I'm lucky enough to have relatively good skin. It is normal in type and doesn't tend to breakout. Winter is the only time it really acts up, getting the odd dry patch from going from freezing cold outside to the centrally heated indoors. With that said, my skincare routine is pretty simple and relatively cheap.

(Sidenote: I do suffer with eczema on my body, especially in winter, and have a skin care routine and some tips and tricks for dealing with it! But, that's for another post.)

Dee's Skincare Routine: Combination Skin

Over the years, I've had endless trouble with my skin. Acne has plagued me on and off for years and the subsequent scarring also really bothers me. I've tried endless products and was even put on antibiotics for my acne at the age of sixteen.

To be perfectly honest, I can't remember the last time I stepped out of the house without foundation and concealer on, but I do feel that my skin has settled somewhat now that I'm in my twenties - here's hoping it'll stay that way! I would label my skin as combination, but recent posts from Amy have had me doubting myself!
